While I had to ignore the focus issue with the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro, there were some other issues I encountered that I did find worth mentioning. While I was able to generate a wide dynamic range (HDR), I had to use multiple passes using the AF Adjustment function to get acceptable colors for each shot. This is to say that when using HDR, the handheld footage will have a less than desirable tonal range. This made my work moving between locations even more difficult. I did not have the best results using the Helium or HQ10 color cards. I usually do my color grading in DaVinci Resolve, but, because I wanted to use ProPresenter, and the Blackmagic Decklink Duo 2 hardware is only compatible with DaVinci Resolve, I opted to use the Helium 2, which also has an SDI input. For the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro, I found that since we were able to get a lot of data on one device, the battery life was not an issue. While, in an ideal scenario, we would shoot more footage with the camera, the test test was a success. I still have more work to do on the camera, but as I said, I was able to use the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro with a real monochromatic signal, and if I end up testing the camera as a stills camera, I dont know if it will be acceptable for stills, so I really did get some information from this test.
One last thing, I found the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro's size to be cumbersome. It was much bigger than I anticipated it would be. And I am a big guy. I have a Blackmagic URSA Mini 4K and the BMD Pocket 6K and I stand over 6 feet tall. I tried wearing a rolled up sweater and jeans, and I sat in a sedan chair, and I still couldn't see the pocket. And with the camera mounted on a ball, it prevented the camera from swinging out in front of me.
